History of department
Gastroenterology Department had a very humble beginning with very basic diagnostic services performed with a fibroptic scope in the Minor OT. The department started with one specialist and common technical staff over the ensures years the numbers of procedures increased gradually.The department took a formal shape in 200 with joining of more specialist and commionising of state of the art video endoscopic equiment . The department got a dedicated endoscopic suite and technical staff. In last 10 years the department has seen a spectular growth with number of diagnotic & theraputic procedures reaching around 300 patients per month currently. The department is now a major regional hub for advanced diagotic theraputic procedures.

The Department has four senior Gastroenterologist 5 who have more than 15 years experience in performing high end procedures at par with international experts .The department has dedicated staff nurses,1 technicians and 3 support staff.
Research & teaching
The Department is actively involved in teaching activities .Many national and international doctors have visited the department as clinical observers.Regular teaching classes for DNB students are conducted by the department
The departmental specialists have taken many lectures at National & International forums. Regular teaching programmes with local IMA bodies are undertaken to time.The department has organised 3 major academic conferences
The department has undertaken various clinical research projects .Few reports from the department have been published in indexed journals.
Department highlights
The GE department at MAH was among first to acquire - Argon plasma coagulation facility in Delhi.
Recently the department has a acquired state of the art high resolution impedance manometery system for esophageal, anorectal and biliary motility system which is available at very few Centre’s in India.
The department has facilities for capsule endoscopy. Socialwork The department has organised free of cost Medical Camps in Delhi & neighbouring states like Haryana & U.P for the poor patients in there areas. Several screenings camps for hepatitis B & C were conducted in neighbourhood local areas.
